How to Remove Press-On Nails Without Damaging Your Nails

Taking press-ons off the right way protects your natural nails and keeps your set in good shape to wear again. The golden rule: never pull, peel or pry a nail off. Soften the bond first, then let it release.
If you used adhesive tabs
- Soak your fingertips in warm, soapy water for a few minutes.
- Slide the cuticle stick gently under one side of the nail and lift slowly.
- If it resists, soak a little longer. Tabs should release with very little pressure.
If you used glue
- Apply the reset nail glue remover around the edges of each nail, or soak your fingertips in warm, soapy water for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Work the cuticle stick gently in from the side, a little at a time.
- Reapply remover or soak again if a nail feels stuck. Patience is what protects your nails.
After removal
- Buff away any leftover glue on your natural nails very gently.
- Wash and dry your hands, then massage in cuticle oil. The ritual cuticle oil pen makes this easy.
- Give your nails a short break between sets if they feel dry.
Save your set for next time
haute sets are reusable. Clean any glue or tab residue off the inside of each press-on, let them dry, and store them back in their box in size order. Next time, you'll only need fresh glue or tabs.
